New hedgerow was planted in Feb 2023 on the estate’s boundary with Park Lane (next to the footbridge) This hedgerow contains a variety of trees including hawthorn, field maple, hazel, beech and dog rose. The hedgerow was planted for several reasons: stabilising the adjacent ditch bankside; creating a natural screen on the estate’s boundary; providing food and shelter for wildlife.

The hedgerow now incorporates stake and weave binding. This is a traditional method of maintaining hedgerows by partially cutting stems, bending them over at an angle, and weaving them together with stakes to create a thicker, stronger barrier. This process rejuvenates the hedge, encourages new growth, and improves the habitat for wildlife.
